NDIS Review final report – what next?


The NDIS Review final report was made public on 7 December. Overall the scope and scale of recommendations from the NDIS Review are welcome. The Review clearly articulated the design flaws. Change will not happen overnight.

NDIS Minister Bill Shorten has committed to working with people with disability and the sector to co-design the details of how these changes will be implemented.

Current drivers inherent in the way funding is administered are not delivering good outcomes for most people with disability or value for money to the Australian public. 

There are some potential solutions and good policy ideas outlined in the NDIS Review and the Disability Royal Commission recommendations. The real challenge is in the implementation. 

The Summer Foundation is committed to working with people with disability to support the Federal Government and the NDIA to co-design and implement policy, solutions and services in a way that sees a measurable improvement in quality, efficiency and participant outcomes.
