Summer Foundation Focus – October 2023

Welcome to the October edition of Summer Foundation Focus.

It’s a particularly busy time of year for us as we ramp up for our Annual Public Forum, which is being held on Thursday 2 November.

We’ll be looking at how home and living supports can be transformed so they truly meet the needs of people with disability. Read about our panelists here and see a discussion paper that brings together research on the topic here.

It’s not too late to book your ticket for the hybrid event that is being held in person in Melbourne and online.

The Summer Foundation recently commissioned an Indigenous artist to design a piece of art that will be our acknowledgement of country on all our documents. See Nakia Cadd’s stunning art here.

The beginning of October saw a huge step forward in the design of accessible housing for all Australians. Read about it here.

In this edition we hear from Andrew about his journey, as an Aboriginal man, to get suitable accommodation. Read it here.

We look forward to seeing you at the Annual Public Forum.
