A new Aged Care Act

The Department of Health and Aged Care is consulting on the foundations for a new Aged Care Act. One of the proposals is to close the door to aged care for people under 65.

For years, young people with disability have been forced to move into aged care because there was nowhere else for them to live. Today, with the advent of the NDIS and specialist disability accommodation, there are more appropriate homes for people with disability.

But there are still young people with disability moving into aged care.

You can have your say on this important reform by visiting the website below. Your feedback on the foundations of the Act will inform its development and help build a high quality and sustainable aged care system.
