About the role
As a Senior Policy Officer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of housing and living supports for people with disabilities. Reporting to the Policy and Government Relations Manager, you will develop high-quality policy outputs, including formulating evidence-based solutions and submissions to government consultations and inquiries.
You’ll coordinate stakeholder and government engagement and contribute to innovative initiatives aligned with our strategic goals. Your work will directly influence government policies and drive systemic change.
Key responsibilities
- Formulate evidence based policy solutions and advice, including developing policy solutions papers and submissions to government on key strategic objectives
- Work across the organisation to translate lived experience and evidence into practical approaches
- Consult, negotiate, influence and collaborate with a broad range of stakeholders, including government and disability sector organisations, to develop and implement strategies to achieve our strategic goals
- Provide timely strategic advice, direction and updates to the Head of Policy, Government Relations and Systems Change and the Executive
Skills and experience
- A Bachelor’s degree in public policy, political science, legal, health or related field or significant equivalent experience is required. Relevant advanced qualifications are advantageous.
- Proven ability to conduct detailed research, analyse data and synthesise and present written information in a compelling form for a range of purposes, including strategic plans, policy briefs and reports.
- Significant experience in building and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including government and the community sector
- Minimum 5 years of social policy or related experience in a similar role with proven ability to develop evidence based policy solutions, with clear recommendations and advice
- Ability to work collaboratively across the organisation to pursue strategic objectives

About the role
Reporting to the Strategic Communications and Media Manager, this position is responsible
for leading the Summer Foundation’s digital content strategy, from ideation to execution,
across all online platforms including website, social media, video and podcast.
An integral part of this role will be shaping a consistent brand voice and presence across the
Summer Foundation’s online platforms and delivering a targeted approach to drive Summer
Foundation’s reputation as a thought-leader in housing and living support for people with
disability.
The role will require a planned approach to content ideation, aimed at generating meaningful
cut-through content that resonates with the target audience, in a way that aligns with the
Summer Foundation’s strategic objectives.
In addition to content creation experience, you will also have experience managing a
website, and a proven ability to effectively manage internal and external stakeholders. You
will stay up-to-date on content trends and have a deep understanding of how to leverage all
social media channels.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and execute strategies to support engagement, audience growth and online
presence. - Provide timely strategic advice, direction and updates to the Head of Policy,
Government Relations and Systems Change and the Executive. - Conduct audience research to inform content creation and engagement strategies
tailored to various stakeholder groups. - Experiment with new content formats and channels to attract and engage different
audience segments in accordance with the strategy.
Skills and experience
- A Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications or digital marketing or related
field or significant equivalent experience is required. Relevant advanced
qualifications are advantageous. - Hands-on experience using content creation and social scheduling tools including
Adobe CMS, Canva and other development/editing tools. WordPress or Drupal
experience is an advantage.

About the role
Reporting to the Strategic Communications and Media Manager, this role is responsible for
leading the Summer Foundation’s external affairs strategy and driving the organisation’s
reputation as a thought-leader in housing and living for people with disability who need
access to 24/7 supports.
An integral part of this role will be shaping the national conversation around housing and
living support options and lifting expectations about what a good life can look like for
Australians with disability with high support needs.
You will work closely with the Policy and Government Relations team to develop and
implement proactive media engagement and advocacy activities to promote the reforms
required to deliver the systemic infrastructure needed to consistently offer contemporary
and sustainable housing and living options for people with disability who need access to
24/7 support.
Key responsibilities
- Create and execute well thought-out media strategies that have a big impact and
build the Summer Foundation’s reputation as a thought-leader and innovation expert
in the disability housing and living space. - Work with the Summer Foundation’s internal teams to craft new ways to maximise
the impact of our research and policy work, including editing reports and creating
engaging content from the findings. - Provide timely strategic advice, direction and updates to the Head of Policy,
Government Relations and Systems Change and the Executive.
Skills and experience
- A Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications or related field or significant
equivalent experience is required. Relevant advanced qualifications are
advantageous. - Strong political acumen and experience within government or advocacy spheres
- Proven track record of high-impact media coverage and relationship-building within the Australian political landscape

About the role
Reporting to the External Affairs Lead, this position is responsible for writing and editing
content for a range of audiences and channels, including our internal and corporate
communications.
A capable and precise written communicator with a strong understanding of strategic
communications principles, you’ll develop communications and engagement strategies that
support the Summer Foundation’s policy, research and innovation priorities.
The role is an integral part of the Strategic Communications and Media team, advising on
content approaches and helping to implement communication plans, strategies, and
campaigns. The role also actively works on a broad range of communication tasks, events,
and activities to support the delivery of the Summer Foundation’s work.
You will also manage the delivery of several key events designed to build the Summer
Foundation’s reputation as a thought-leader in housing and living for people with disability
who need access to 24/7 supports.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive corporate communications strategy that
aligns with Summer Foundation’s mission, vision and goals. - Project manage key corporate events including event scripting, spokesperson
preparation, and promotion. - Produce and execute communications plans to support key Summer Foundation
initiatives, including research, policy and new approaches to housing and living
supports. - Drive engagement in the Summer Foundation’s innovation projects through targeted
and timely communications strategies to engage existing partners and attract new
ones - Provide timely strategic advice, direction and updates to the Head of Policy,
Government Relations and Systems Change and the Executive
Skills and experience
- A Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications or digital marketing or related field
or significant equivalent experience is required. Relevant advanced qualifications are
advantageous. - Hands on experience in using email direct marketing tools and other software such as
Canva is an advantage.
