Summer Foundation strengthens Board with new appointment

The Summer Foundation has welcomed Cain Beckett as an Independent Non-Executive Director to the Summer Foundation Board.

Cain’s appointment is a continuation of an active renewal process which has been rolling out over the past 12 months to strengthen the diversity, strategic capacity and breadth of expertise of the Board.

Cain is a senior executive in the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet and leads the department’s internal consulting unit, the Policy Projects and Taskforces Office.

He has held leadership roles in the design and launch of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), where he built the supply-side functions for the Scheme, including pricing and the development of Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA). Cain is also an NDIS participant.

Cain has also held diverse roles across consulting and in the private sector, including stints at PwC, Accenture and Perpetual. He has also led or co-founded successful organisations in the fields of technology consulting, media and medical research.

Cain was formerly Chair of the NSW Disability Council and non-executive director of the Cerebral Palsy Alliance.

With his wealth of expertise and experience, Cain will no doubt make a valuable contribution to the Board.

The expert knowledge of people with lived experience is critical to informing Summer Foundation strategy, service redesign, resources and developing potential solutions. Cain’s appointment is part of the progress we are making towards having more people with disability involved at all levels of the Summer Foundation.

The Summer Foundation team warmly welcomes Cain and we look forward to working together to help solve the issue of young people with disability in aged care.
