The Down to 10 Day campaign began campaigning in March 2022, advocating for faster, more accurate decisions on housing and support for NDIS participants.
We did this because there were too many cases of people stuck living in unsuitable places, without the supports they needed, while they waited for the NDIA to make a decision.
The campaign has seen real progress in the timeliness of decision-making, and the latest NDIA Quarterly Report shows how far we have come in the past 12 months.
The data shows that just 11% of decisions took longer than 60 days in Q3 of 22/23, down from 45% 12 months ago.
We acknowledge the work of the NDIA in making this a priority. But there is still a way to go.
Unfortunately, most decisions are still taking longer than 1 month, and there are still too many cases such as Nathan’s (pictured above), who waited 450 days to get approval for his home and living funding. Nathan has now got the funding he needs and is living in SDA with his wife Kerry-anne, and you can see how big an impact that has had on their lives.
