More information about my experience:

I have worked as a Support Coordinator for 2 years in a health service. My past experience is working in 3 major health services since 2003. I have worked with NDIS clients, therapists and the NDIS for clients to move into Specialist Disability Accommodation. Additionally, I supported clients with Renal Failure to navigate Priority Housing through the Office of Public Housing to gain long term housing. I have also worked with private real estate agents, Support Residential Services (SRS) and Aged Care Homes to advocate for housing. External agencies were used for providing additional support such as SEAS (South Eastern Advocacy Service and WAYYS (housing service for at risk of homelessness or homeless). In my opinion, choice and control should always be provided for the type of accommodation clients would like and would meet their specific needs.

A little bit more about me:

I love working as a social worker and NDIS support coordinator. The roles I have held gave me the opportunity to advocacy and assist clients to reach their goals. My focus is to listen to the client, summarise their goals/wishes and then discuss strategies to address those goals. Depending on the client’s wishes, writer will work with the client to provide choice and control and make referrals accordingly to organisations, individual therapy staff and government bodies.

I have attended a variety of trainings in the pas 21 years of being a social worker. An example of some of the training includes, Running a Support Coordination Business, Specialist Disability Accommodation, Housing Services, Person Centred Care, Family Violence, Safe Steps, Conflict Resolution, Teamwork and Advocacy. I have engaged in regular supervision. I feel I am the type of person who thinks “out of the box” and I am solution focused.
