We are a team of OTs with a high level of experience with adults with a variety of disabilities. We have extensive experience in assessing complex needs devising comprehensive reports to assist with applications to funding bodies (such as NDIA), including:- Minor, complex and major home modifications.- Off the shelf and customized assistive technology, including beds, mattress, manual and power wheelchairs and many other AT items.- Functional assessments to explore what would work best for a person, their family and carers.- Supported Independent Living (SIL) assessments and reports for people who are new to SIL, existing to SIL or considering this as an option.- Comprehensive assessment and report in Supported Disability Accommodation (SDA). Working collaboratively with all stakeholders to ensure the NDIS has a very comprehensive picture of the participants needs and goals.

A little bit more about me:

Focus on Function was founded in 2021.
I am the founder and director of Focus on Function.
The aim was to create a great service, based locally, to provide a high quality and collaborative occupational therapy service to adults with a variety of disabilities.

Prior to becoming and OT I worked as a support worker with adults with intellectual disabilities. I loved this job and it is still one of my all time favorite jobs!
I have 16 years of OT experience, working with a adults with a variety of disabilities in rural NSW.
Over the last 8 years I have worked as a sole trader, providers services under the NDIA and other funding bodies.

I love living in Gunnedah and feel it is a great place to raise our 3 children. It is a beautiful community with lots of wonderful people!

I have a passion for high quality, client centered, problem solving service provision. I love working with everyone involved, with the participant the main driver, to ensure great outcomes for the participant.

It is essential to listen to peoples experiences, preferences and goals. It is essential to listen to feedback of others involved to ensure that we have the full picture.

It is imperative to ensure the assessment process and structure is tailored to meet the participants needs. We take the time to get to know the participant and how best to work with the participant and everyone involved.

It important we stay up to date with the funding bodies requirements and how we can marry this up with the participants needs and goals.
