The NDIS can provide you with funding to help you reach your housing goals, but understanding how to get there can be hard.
Most people with disability live in mainstream housing. A very small number of NDIS participants may need specialist disability accommodation (SDA) to enable the delivery of their other NDIS funded supports. The SDA Rules 2016 state that NDIS participants must exhaust their mainstream housing options before testing their SDA eligibility. Evidence of your search for a mainstream housing option is vital and must be included in your Housing Plan (SDA).
On this resource we detail one pathway to mainstream housing. If you have searched for mainstream housing and discovered you can’t access it because of your disability, you can test your eligibility for SDA on the second page.
