We are most grateful to receive the support of the following entities: | | |
| We are grateful to the Helen MacPherson Smith Trust for recently funding a pilot project which will explore the application of digital storytelling technology to young people with disabilities who are currently living in nursing homes. This pilot will provide a unique opportunity for volunteers to work with young people with disabilities for the purpose of producing a useful communication tool which will provide an ongoing, tangible benefit to young people living in nursing homes - who in many instances either have limited verbal communication or are non-verbal. | | | |
| We gratefully acknowledge the support provided by the Lord Mayor's Charitable Foundation, which is enabling us to support and facilitate a group of young people with disabilities in their quest to publicly tell their stories, with the aim of raising awareness of the urgent need to resolve the issue of young people living in nursing homes. The funding will cover expenses incurred as the Ambassadors share their stories, via the internet, media interviews and public speaking. | | | |
| We gratefully acknowledge the support of the Victorian Government. The funding provided through the Victorian Volunteer Small Grants Program enabled us to provide an extensive, customised media training program for 6 young people with disabilities. This media training was a great preparation for these young people who are now actively engaging in media and public speaking opportunities, raising awareness of the need to resolve the issue of young people with disabilities living in nursing homes. | | | | | On behalf of Young People Get Active (YPGA) – the Summer Foundation acknowledges the support of the Brimbrank City Council. The funding provided will enable the community volunteer group YPGA to develop a strategic plan and organisational structure, as well as implement four group activities which will focus on linking young people with disabilities with local recreational facilities.
| | | | | We gratefully acknowledge TAC for providing funding which will enable us to research and develop a model for a peer mentoring program. This project will be carried out in conjunction with Brain Injury Matters, and the resulting model will be based on a combination of focus groups outcomes and a review of relevant research. | | | |
| We gratefully acknowledge the funding provided by the Trust Company Ltd (Fred P Archer Charitable Trust). This funding contributed to the official launch of the Building Better Lives® campaign and the design and production of campaign support material. | | | | | We gratefully acknowledge the assistance of the WCF Thomas Charitable Trust which is managed by ANZ Trustees in supporting the From A Home to Their Home project and for seed funding provided during our inception that enabled us to work towards locating, connecting and informing people under 60 years of age with acquired disabilities currently living in aged care, and their significant others. | | | | | We gratefully acknowledge the support of the Ian Potter Foundation who have funded a Pilot Information and Carer Support Network for Families of Young People in Residential Aged Care. This project will enable us to locate, connect, inform and support the families of people under 60 years of age with acquired disabilities currently living in aged care in Victoria. | | | |
| Grey has been instrumental in helping us reach out and communicate with families, workers and policy makers to drive our mission of fostering the development of the next generation of services and solutions that promote the health and well-being of people with acquired and late onset disabilities and empower them to participate in the community. | | | | | | | | | |
